Request? prompt: “I’d do anything for you”

@ellen-reincarnated1967

A/N: I did more generic chronic  illness (because I have one) but the sentiment is still there and very much cute, short btw

Sam Winchester was a lot of things. He was strong, both physically and emotionally. He was funny, there was a whole other side than the front he put on. Most of all, he was perceptive. It was scary how intune he was with the world around him. Dean often joked about the psychic stuff returning, but you thought different.

Sam was smart, he was in law school for Chuck’s sake. So, it seemed natural that he was so perceptive. He needed to see the next move before the other guy even thought about it. Law school (all a childhood spent hunting) shaped Sam into your Sam.

You were, however, often floored by how sensitive he was. Maybe because the men in your life before the Winchesters never showed emotion. Or maybe it was because you never encountered a man like Sam before. Nevertheless, his ability to care was far beyond anything you ever knew.

 So when the pain started as a dull ache that caused you to shift in the stiff wooden chairs in the library, Sam noticed. Sam noticed because that’s what he does, especially when it regards you.

With the softest eyes, he glanced up from the lore book he was reading (“You can read other things than skin mags for fun ,Dean.”). “You okay?” He asked in the gentlest tone just above a whisper.

By now, after so long dealing with this, you grew accustomed to answering in the affirmative. You could handle this alone, you had long before you met Sam. But Sam didn’t want you to handle whatever this was alone, not when he could help. “Yeah.”  The lie was not one of your best.

“Don’t lie to me, Y/N.” Sam stretched across the table to feel your forehead. You were warm but not alarmingly so. “Why don’t you go lay down?“

If Sam wasn’t so tall, so domineering, that would have appeared as more of a suggestion than the demand it appeared to be. You reacted to slow to his standards apparently.

With a gentle motion, Sam had you out of your chair and in his arms. They were as comfy as all the fanfic you secretly indulged in suggested they would be. You didn’t protest him tucking you in and you sure as hell didn’t protest him crawling in beside you. The added warmth of his body paired with the increasing discomfort your body was taking lulled you to sleep.

 By the time you woke up, Sam had his laptop on his lap beside you. He smiled a warm smile, one big hand ruffling through your hair. "There’s some pain killers and water on the nightstand. I was thinking we could order take out.” His eyes twinkled with care. “And we could make an appointment with a specialist, I can’t stand to see you in pain."

"I can handle it, Sam. Don’t worry about me. You don’t have to do anything."

Sam shook his head in defiance, his hair flopping around. "I’d do anything for you.” He paused, shutting his laptop and placing it aside. “You know that, right? Anything."

Anything, that was a big promise coming from a Winchester. One that you hoped to make up to him. For now, you only nodded as you snuggled closer to him. His arm was tucked need your head as a pillow, neither of you wanting to move for the rest of the day.

Thank you so so much!!! I absolutely adored this. I giggled at the secret she’s been holding onto… indulging in fanfic… ah, his arms are amazing… brings me back to Jared rubbing my arms after our photo op like it was natural to do to a stranger…

I digress.

I agree. Sam is perceptive. always was. before the psychic powers too. he’d definitely notice the small changes in his loved ones.
